Check runway before a hire

Find out whether you can hire someone in a given month and still keep the runway you want, with a scenario the assistant drafts and you review.

Ask the question

Open Assistant and ask, for example: "Can I hire a salesperson in February and still retain 12 months of runway?"

What the assistant does

  1. It drafts a scenario that adds the hire from February, based on your current plan.
  2. It runs the scenario through the forecast engine.
  3. It answers with the lowest runway, the month it occurs and the funding gap, if any, and cites the forecast run and input hash it used.

The draft appears under Scenarios. Nothing is approved automatically; a person reviews the draft and decides.

How runway is calculated

Runway is current cash divided by the average monthly net burn over the next months (three by default). The forecast also reports the first month cash would go below zero and the lowest runway over the horizon. The exact definitions are in the forecast formulas, and the Burn and runway lesson explains them with an example.

Compare options

Run the hire in different months as separate scenarios and compare up to six side by side under Scenarios.
